I often see people on the street with a shirt or accessories with a style as I mentioned above (marijuana, red yellow green color, and Bob Marley). I do not know why feeling to know I was intrigued, what exactly does this mean?
I was idly browsing and a little more so to know if the red yellow green color is the color of the flag of the Rastafari Movement or often abbreviated with the Rasta. Rastafari is a religion that was born in Jamaica, but some are more like to call the way of life rather than religion. Religion is based on the Bible but have been influenced by religious and other beliefs-religious belief in Jamaica.
The Rastafarians worship the one God (monotheism) which represents the Holy Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and the Holy spirit which they call "Jah". Well "Jah" is the Haile Selassie (Rastafari comes from Ras Tafari word which is the birth name of Haile Selassie, Ras Tafari Makkonen), King of Ethiopia which they consider to be the incarnation of Lion of Judah, or Jesus. So on what basis they dare issued a statement that Haile Selassie is "Jah"? Previously, there was a prophecy which says that a new king will reign in Ethiopia and it was evident, even in the biblical verses that support it like Revelations 5: 5, Revelations 19: 16, Revelations 22: 16 and Psalms 87:4 , Ezekiel 30, Epistle to Timothy, Revelation 19, 22, Psalms 9.18, 68, 76, and Isaiah 9.
Back to the color problem was, every color of the Rastafari flag has special meaning. Red symbolizes the blood spilled to the earth, yellow gold symbolizes prosperity also lost or the sun that gives life to all, and green symbolizes the lost continent of Africa green.
So what's wrong with marijuana? Cannabis or marijuana canabis or first brought to Jamaica once in the late 1800s by those eastern India. Before Rastafari emerged marijuana used as medicine or mixed with tobacco for cigarettes. To Rastafarians, marijuana is used to acquire wisdom and became part of religious ritual to get closer to them on "Jah" (God). So in other words they worship with marijuana though more so solemn.
Bob Marley, King of Reggae, which is famous with dreads who mengispirasi champion Surip are Rastafarians. With a Reggae music from Jamaica Bob Marley Rastafari influence spread throughout the world. That's why there's always Bob marley red green yellow and marijuana.
Questioning about Bob Marley dreadlocks, it was also a special meaning for Rastafari them are part of the oath in the Gospel of the Nazarenes and Leviticus that forbade them to shave the hair (but that does not mean it always dreadlocked Rastafarians, some are not). Another meaning is dreadlocks symbolize their identity, so they do not forget who they are and remind them of Jah (God) because with dreads they look like a lion (Lion of Judah, perhaps)
Ok, we've talked at length about Rastafari, but what exactly is the purpose of this Rastafari? I also do not know, but some say they are a religious movement and a cultural revolution to world peace, racial harmony, economic and political reform. But according to what I understand from reading my reasons for the emergence of Rastafari is for freedom of black people, its meaning here is a symbol of defiance against oppression and pride as black.
Bob Marley is a descendant of the mix. His father was white British, while her mother is Afro-Jamaican. Therefore he was born too black to get into class whites and too white to get into the class of blacks. But in the end he chose to go in the black group. So also with those blacks who had always been dominated by white people, they always be second-class society even Jesus was white, why not black? What's wrong with black? With the emergence of Haile Sallassei fulfilling prophecy they finally have a god of his own faction. Well somehow it's just my assumption that can not hold validity.
Now many people who are not black or African who claimed Rastafarians with dreadlocks hair, clothes and assessoris colored red green yellow, like / play reggae music, Rastafari ideology admitted, but they can not fully considered Rastafarians. Because it is basically true Rastafarians are African people who consciously raised with a sense of pride of heritage, religion, pride, and its existence in the world as black people in Africa or the Rastafari religion ... and run it kaffah.
Well, finally this day I spend in front of the internet to read about Rastafari, and I so know what the relationship between Bob Marley, Red Yellow Green, Gimbal, and Ganja. Apparently it is not just a style-gayaan but also something to do with the worship of Jah, Rastafari God.
