REGGAE AND RASTA

In Indonesia, almost always identified with reggae Rasta. In fact, reggae and Rasta are actually two different things. "Reggae is a genre of music, whereas the Rasta or Rastafari stands for is a choice way of life, way of life," said Ras Mohammed (23), reggae musician who had 12 years to his world of reggae in New Yorkdan adherent of the teachings of Rasta philosophy. Fuss, behind the frenetic and joy that brought reggae, there is a stigma attached to fans of the music. And the stigma is also attached to the Rasta philosophy itusendiri. "Here, fans of reggae music, or often mistakenly called the Rastafarians, identified with suction marijuana and life style at will, without a goal," said Mohammed Ras whose original name ini.Padahal Egar, Rasta philosophy actually teach someone living a clean, orderly, and has the principles and purpose of life is a real Rasta jelas.Penganut refuse to drink alcohol, eat meat, and even smoke cigarettes. "The members of The Wailers (original band BobMarley) no smoking. Smoking violates the teachings of Rastafari," said Ras.
Ras reveals, not all are followers of Rasta reggae fans, and vice versa, not all believers should love Rasta reggae songs. Rasta Reggae identified with because BobMarley-bearer to the world music genre, is a devout Rasta.
Race added that one proof that the reggae community in Indonesia is largely not understood the teachings of Rastafari is the lack of understanding of the basics of that philosophy. "Like when I asked them about Marcus Garvey and Haile Selassie, they do not know. And that is the two main characters in the teachings of Rastafari," said the young man who menggelung her long hair in a turban this.
Musician Tony Q Rastafara also admitted, though he uses frills Rastafara name, but he was not a devout Rasta. Tony tries to understand the teachings of Rastafari which according to him can be squeezed into one nature philosophy, which loves peace. "What I just follow the peace loving it," said Tony who did not want to touch the marijuana was. However, although not understand and run the whole philosophy of Rastafari, reggae fans and players in Indonesia claimed to get something behind the music that they love it. Usually, starting to like reggae music (and lyrics of the songs), the fans then became interested in studying philosophy and teaching behind it.
As acknowledged Moses Billy Hendry, guitarist Papa Rasta group from Yogyakarta, who claimed to reggae music reinforced his hatred of injustice and abuse of authority. Each ticket police, he prefers to argue than the "peace". "The problem is not the money, but such practices are not fair," said Moses who claims often followed strangers buying cigarettes at midnight because of mistaken want to buy marijuana. While Steven admitted he became more wise in view of life since wrestle reggae music. Reggae music, especially Bob Marley popularized, according to Stevens, taught peace, justice, and nonviolence. "So we rebel against injustice, but not antikemapanan. If reggae grow, then in Indonesia, there will be no war. Indonesia will smile with reggae," Steven said confidently. Sila and Joni from Bali asserted, a true Rasta do not have identical appearance BobMarley style. "True Rasta is in their hearts," said Sila said, clenching his right hand to pat his chest.
